PRIMA is the brainchild of two academics, who have dramatically advanced the theory of political risk analysis in recent years. This is saying something, since the academic study of political risk has been generally stagnant since the 1980s. Their work is based on the application of transaction cost (a.k.a. "institutional") economics to the field of political risk assessment and management.
