Editorial Review of
Oxford Analytica
[Category: Emerging Markets Analysis]
Here's a business model: set up a consulting firm, next to a great university, and staff it with profs and grad students who are -- compared to say, lawyers -- intelligent, well-mannered and relatively cheap. A great model indeed. And often attempted by enterprising profs with catastrophic results. The exception is Oxford Analytica, run haphazardly but competently by a kindly U.S. businessman with an Oxford fascination, out of cramped quarters a stone's throw from campus.
Oxford Analytica has a loyal following in the public sector and among traders on Wall Street. It provides daily updates, with its academic analysts advising what's "behind the headlines" on the latest world news. The headliners are star profs from Oxford and beyond. In addition, OA does bespoke research projects and a yearly conference.
