Political Risk Analysis Around the North Atlantic

COUNTRYRISK.COM REVIEW

This is an odd book, but an interesting one. Written by a Canadian government official, it's a bit old (1992), but covers an important topic: political risk assessment practices of multinational firms. (The last book on that subject, by Stephen Kobrin, was about a decade earlier.) Michel Leonard, formerly of the University of Virginia, has done some more recent work but still hasn't gotten around to making a book out of it.

The book's a sort of survey of surveys -- what approaches are used by companies in the US, Canada and Europe to deal with political risk. Where do they get their information, who in the organization does the work, what methodologies do they favor. The writing and the organization aren't the best, but there is interesting information here.
